Imphal, October 12 2020:
Opposing the alleged Indian annexation of Kangleipak, the Alliance for Socialist Unity, Kangleipak (ASUK) has announced a general strike across the State from 6 am to 6 pm on October 15 .
However, medical service, media and religious ceremonies would be exempted from the purview of the general strike, conveyed a press release issued by ASUK publicity committee convenor S Mangal.
Kangleipak, one of the Asian sovereign States, was compelled to sign a pre-drafted merger agreement on September 21, 1949, and on October 15, 1949, the merger or the alleged annexation of the State to the dominion of India was formally declared.
Since the last few decades after the coercive annexation, it has been witnessed that many Kangleipak-based armed revolutionary groups, along with the people of Kangleipak, have been observing the day as 'National Black Day' every year by calling for general strikes as a sign of National resistance to the alleged Indian occupation.
This act of resistance is a necessary responsibility, ASUK asserted.
Most Kanglei people, particularly the intellectual class, students and the well-informed general public, seem to be aware of the things that are intended to be conveyed through the observations.
"For instance, we have noticed that many Kanglei intellectuals have spoken articulately about the issue.
There have also been several student bodies observing the day expressing the denial of the alleged Indian annexation of Manipur.
Besides, there are informed public who are aware of the matter no less than the above classes", it remarked.
However, the resistance movement in the State is not moving forward yet.
Many Kangleichas who were once on the frontline of the National resistance movement have moved to support alien rule.
There are also uncountable number of people who have pretended that they do not understand the issue, even though they completely understand the problem, it said.
It then asserted that the epochal task of the Kanglei revolutionary classes is to bring out a people fitted with a kind of political consciousness, charged with a deep resolve to fight the alien rule.
Now is the time to observe the Black Day in such a new way that it might ignite the inner being of the people with a new spirit that would make it possible for them, in reality, to fight the foreign regime.
ASUK further called upon all to take up a new responsibility and strive to regain the lost sovereignty of Kangleipak.
