Seram Mangi passes away

Former News Editor of AIR, Imphal and veteran journalist IIS (Indian Information Service) Retd Seram Mangi Singh has passed away this morning at his Singjamei Kshetri Leikai residence following a prolonged illness.
He was 68 .
Besides being a pioneering figure in the field of journalism, Seram Mangi was also a social worker who contested the Assembly election from Thongju Assembly Constituency.
He was also the media cell chairman of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee.
On the demise of the multi-faceted personality, chief Minister O ibobi Singh, MPCC and All Manipur Working Journalists' union have expressed deep condolences and conveyed sorrow to members of the bereaved family.

In his condolence message, CM Ibobi remembered Seram Mangi as an individual who earned respect and admiration of the people through his dedication and sense of public service.
In his death, the State has lost a talented journalist, said the CM.
MP Dr T Meinya has also condoled the demise.
An AMWJU release issued by its president A Mobi mourned Mangi's demise as an irreparable loss for the journalist fraternity.
Meanwhile, the Congress party flag was flown at half-mast at Congress Bhavan as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
A condolence meeting presided by State unit chief Gaikhangam was also held at the Bhavan this afternoon.
