Thoubal, September 11 2024:
A huge mass rally was held today at Yairipok against the bombing of civilians with high-tech drones and firing long range rockets at Meitei villages by Kuki narco-terrorists a few days back.
The rally organised by the Yairipok Apunba Meira Paibi Lup started from two points viz; Yairipok Bamon Leikai and Yairipok Bazar.
A large number of people from Khoirom, Kekru and Bamon Leikai gathered at Yairipok Bamon Leikai while people coming from Wangkhem, Huidrom Leikai, Siphai Leikai and Bishnunaha gathered at Yairipok.
The twin rallies merged at Yairipok Traffic Island and the participants shouted a number of slogans.
From Yairipok Traffic Island, the protesters marched to Azad Higher Secondary School.
The rally was also joined by Meira Paibis and local club volunteers of Yairipok Laimanai and Top Chingtha.
From there, the rally turned around and came back to Yairipok Traffic Island where the participants once again shouted a number of slogans in unison.
The protesters shouted slogans like "Go back, Central forces", "Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh and DGP Rajiv Singh must step down", "We condemn Central Government's silence", "Integrity of Manipur is not negotiable", "Long Live, Manipur" etc.
Speaking to media persons, Nongpok Saayang Apunba Lup president Ananda Laishram said that the rally was organised to protest the deafening silence of both the Central Government and the State Government to the drone bombings and rocket attacks carried out by Kuki narcoterrorists against innocent and peace loving Meitei civilians.
Questioning where was Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh when there were many casualties on account of the aerial bombings from drones and long range rocket attacks, he demanded resignation of both Kuldiep Singh and DGP Rajiv Singh for they cannot do anything when violence breaks out whether it is in the hills or the valley.
Stating that the Central Government must hand over the reins of the Unified Command to the State Government, Ananda called upon all the Ministers and MLAs to come out from their comfort zones and join the people's movement.
