Imphal, March 11 2015:
Alleging that O Ibobi led Congress Government has not taken up any tangible measure to prevent Swine Flu outbreak even though the disease has claimed two lives in the State, BJP Manipur Pradesh demanded the Government to step up measure at the earliest.
Speaking to reporters, BJP Manipur Pradesh president Th Chaoba said that the State Health Department has shown no urgency at this critical juncture.
He questioned why Tamiflu was not administered to infected persons although Health Services Director had urged the general public not to panic claiming that Swine Flu is not a serious disease and the State Government has enough stock of Tamiflu.
Saying that the Department has not taken up any step to distribute protective masks to public, Th Chaoba said that it is a matter of serious concern that the State has no equipment to diagnose the disease.
Maintaining that the Centre had sanctioned Rs 16.45 crore to the State Government in 2013-14 to acquire necessary equipment and set up laboratory at the time of sudden outbreak of diseases, Th Chaoba demanded the State Government to present a report on how this amount was utilised before the general public.
