Imphal, September 10 2019: Following the final hearing of, not one, but nine different sexual assault cases of minors against one tuition teacher Waikhom Abungoton today, Special Judge (POCSO, Imphal East) has kept the judgment reserved till September 24 .

For the hearing, Waikhom Abungoton (30) s/o W Tombi of Kyamgei Mayai Leikai was produced from Sajiwa Manipur Central Jail and after hearing the submission of the Special PP and the defense counsel of the accused at length, the Court fixed September 24 for passing the judgment order.

The accused was arrested by police after a mother of one of the victims filed a complaint to Women PS Imphal East in 2015 for sexually assaulting her daughter.

Thereafter, multiple complaints were lodged against the teacher by the parents of eight other minor students who were taking tuition classes from him.

The trial began from the early part of 2016 after the IO of the case submitted the relevant charge sheets before the Court.
