Imphal, January 10 2025:
The All Manipur Bulk LPG Transporters Association (AMBTA) has suspended their cease work strike for a period of seven days with effect from last night.
Subsequently, LPG bullet tank trucks resumed movement from today to ferry LPG.
Citing exorbitant illegal taxes on Imphal-Jiribam highway, AMBTA launched an indefinite cease work strike from Monday last.
A team of AMBTA held a meeting with the Chief Secretary, Commissioner (Home), Commissioner (CAF&PD) and Director, CAF&PD late last evening.
AMBTA president A Tamphayai told The Sangai Express that they launched a cease work strike from Monday urging the State Government to reimburse the illegal taxes collected from LPG bullet tank trucks on NH-37 .
"We are also asking the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) to revise the transportation charge of shipping LPG on NH-37", he said.
Assuring that the transporters' demands would be fulfilled after talking with high level officials of IOCL on January 13, the Chief Secretary made a fervent appeal to suspend the cease work strike for at least one week.
The Chief Secretary also assured that a representation highlighting the transporters' grievances would be sent to the Union Minister of Petroleum within the next couple of days.
Responding to the Chief Secretary's appeal, AMBTA agreed to suspend the cease work strike from yesterday itself till January 16, Tamphayai said.
If AMBTA's demands are not fulfilled within one week, the cease work strike would be resumed, he added.
