Imphal, December 09 2024:
The CorCom has alleged that the Government of India has been violating the right to self determination and universal human rights of the small Nations ofWESEA since 1949 .
A statement issued by CorCom Publicity Committee on the eve of the International Human Rights Day alleged that the Government of India has been violating the rights of the people of Manipur (Kangleipak) since Manipur was forcibly merged into the Indian Union on October 15, 1949 .
Even though it has been 76 years since the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10, 1948, the Government of India has been continuously persecuting and violating the rights of the people of Manipur (Kangleipak), the CorCom alleged.
It also conveyed deepest respect to all the people who have been fighting for the inherent rights of Manipur (Kangleipak) as well all those who have laid down their lives in the struggle to defend human rights.
Till date, the people of Manipur have been struggling to abolish colonialism and it would be impossible for the people to live peacefully until, they achieve the right to self determination, the CorCom asserted.
All men are bom free, and the UNDHR and Article 19 of ICCPR guarantee every man the right to express their choice and aspirations.
However, in Manipur (Kangleipak), all sections of people including the press are being gagged.
There will be no meaning to life if the people cannot overcome this restriction on the right to freedom of expression, the CorCom said.
Meanwhile, the Government of India has been scheming continuously to drive wedges and polarise indigenous communities of Manipur.
As a result of the alleged proxy wars being waged by India, the people of Manipur can no longer move freely, it said.
Just like in concentration camps, a large number of people are being confined within limited spaces.
At the same time, the Government of India and the puppet State Government have been violating the rights of the beleaguered people, it alleged.
While all sections of people have been suffering unspeakable misery, the Government of India and its collaborator State Government have been acting totally indifferent.
Even though Article 23 of UDHR guarantees every man the right to work, the same right has been rendered meaningless in Manipur (Kangleipak), the CorCom said.
The Government of India's foreign and trade policies driven by the unfolding geo-politics in South and South East Asia, and economic interests have further worsened the human rights situation in the region, it said.
Apart from driving wedges among the indigenous communities, the Government of India has been using mercenaries who hail from beyond WESEA to achieve its geo-political objectives.
This has created a new dimension of the violation of rights of indigenous peoples, it said.
The CorCom asserted that it is imperative for all sections of people to understand the Government of India's alleged policy of creating enmity among the different communities of Manipur (Kangleipak) .
The indigenous communities need to identify who the real enemies are and work collectively.
"We need to avoid being infatuated by ethnic homelands but work collectively in order to avoid being entrapped by India's policy aimed at creating permanent divisions among the communities", it continued.
It alleged that the Government of India has been working continuously to suppress the liberation movements of WESEA and subjugate the people using mercenaries and several draconian laws.
Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act 1958 exemplifies the draconian character of the alleged colonial India, it said.
The Government of India has been working hard to destroy the integrity of Manipur with the ultimate goal of annihilating the Manipuri society who aspires to exist independently, it said.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has no reason to love the people of Manipur (Kangleipak) although he craves for the State's territory.
The Indian armed forces have committed a number of massacres in the past and engineered several cases of involuntary or enforced disappearances, it said.
All the indigenous people of Manipur (Kangleipak) need to renew the struggle to achieve the inherent rights entitled to them, it said.
In order to achieve all the rights guaranteed by the UDHR, it is imperative to liberate Manipur from India.
As such, it is all the more important for all sections of people to reaffirm the collective stand to carry and intensify the liberation movement, the CorCom added.
