Kangleipal held, Court okays transit remand

Top leaders of KCP Maoist Sapam Kangleipal and KCP Peoples War Group Wahengbam Thoi Luwang who were arrested by Special Cell, Delhi Police, were produced before the Court concerned and taken into transit remand to be produced before related Courts in connection a case registered in 2008 and another in 2019.According to a reliable source, the arrested leader of KCP Maoist, Sapam Kangleipal alias Chirangelen alias Sarat (38) s/o S Shyamsunder of Nongada Awang Leikai, was produced before the Court in connection with a case filed against him in December 2008, along with a prayer for 6 days transit remand so as to produce him before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal East.
After going through the related case records, the Court found that Kangleipal is wanted in connection with the said case and allowed the prayer for transit remand.
The Court however directed the authorities concerned to carry out medical checkup of the individual after every 48 hours, the source added.
Similarly KCP PWG leader Wahengbam Thoi Luwang alias Thawai Lakpa (36) s/o (L) W Thaba of Wabagai Terapishak and Kangabam Roshan (27) s/o (L) K Gogo of Bharmapur Thangapat Mapal, were also produced with a prayer for 6 days transit remand to produce them before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West, in connection with an FIR registered against them by Lamphel PS in May this year.
The Court allowed the prayer for transit remand as well along with similar direction to carry out medical treatment of the two individuals after every 48 hours.
The arrested top leaders of KCP Maoist and KCP PWG are likely to be brought back to the State within next few days, the source added.
It may be mentioned that Sapam Kangleipal was arrested in a sedition charge by a team of Imphal PS while he was president of Manipur Forward Youth Front on May 7, 2008, from Manipur Press Club.
