Imphal, May 09 2025:
Dr Linus Neli, Archbishop of Imphal, has appealed to all Christ's faithful of the Archdiocese of Imphal to join together in prayer and offer a Holy Mass of thanksgiving on Saturday, May 10 in their parishes/institutions, as they unite in heartfelt prayer and gratitude, and support for Pope XIV as he begins his pontificate.
Most reverend Dr Linus Neli DD stated that Pope Leo XIV, formerly cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, born on September 14, 1955 in Chicago Illinois, is the son of Louis Marius Prevost of French and Italian descent, and Mildred Martinez of Spanish descent.
He is the first Pope from the order of Saint Augustine and the second Roman Pontiff from the Americas, after late Pope Francis.
He described Pope Leo XIV as a man deeply rooted in the Augustine religious order, who served with love and dedication as prior general of the order of Saint Augustine for two terms.
Pope Leo XIV signals a mission rooted in moral clarity, committed to justice, dignity and the common good amid today's challenges.
The Archbishop said Pope Leo XIV offers a papacy of hope that brings healing where there is hurt, clarity where there is confusion and deep spiritual renewal.
