Imphal, January 09 2015 :
Many candidates are not in a position to participate in the written test scheduled on January 11 for recruitment of 14 Food Safety Officers through Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) because of alleged faulty policies of the State Government.
Speaking to media persons on behalf of the anguished candidates at Manipur Press Club this afternoon, one Mutum Bhopendro remarked that the recruitment procedures being followed by the authority concerned were not compatible with what was laid out in the recruitment advertisement.
According to the advertisement, candidates who possess degree certificates of Food Technology, Dairy Technology, Bio-technology, Agricultural Science, Oil Technology, Veterinary Science, Bio-Chemistry and Microbiology or who have completed MSc Chemistry or who possess Medical degree from a recognised university may apply for the posts.
In addition, candidates with equivalent education qualifications notified by the Central Government may also apply for the same posts.
However, applications of 120 candidates were rejected after the eligibility criteria were restricted to a few courses from the dozen courses given in the advertisement.
On being enquired at MPSC and Manipur Secretariat, the two bodies kept on passing the queries to one another, Bhopendro said.
Regarding notified and equivalent educational qualifications of the Central Government, a meeting was held yesterday but a decision is still pending, the candidates were told by some officers of the Secretariat.
Until a final decision on the Central Government's educational qualifications is adopted, the scheduled written test should be postponed or the rejected candidates who fulfil essential qualifications should be allowed to sit for the written test, Bhopendro said.
