PREPAK cadre held, explosives seized

A PREPAK cadre, said to be involved in triggering a blast near Imphal College along Tiddim Road which claimed a life and injured another, was nabbed by a combined team of security forces today.
Based on the disclosure made by the arrested man, a powerful explosive and its materials, two sets of battery, two electric transistors were recovered at the residence of Moirangthem Iboyaima of Leimaram Mamang Leikai, a police officer said.
Producing the arrested PREPAK cadre before the media at Commando Complex, DSP (Commando) of Imphal West district police, Dr Sarangthem Ibomcha said a combined team of Imphal West commandos and troops of 18 Sikh Regt launched a search operation in Changangei area based on specific inputs about the presence of UG elements in the area.
The UG cadre identified as Ningthoujam Chaoba alias Wangoo Chaoba (37) s/o (L) Angouba of Leimaram Mayai Leikai was nabbed in the operation by the combined team near COMET School, Changangei today around 2.30pm, Dr S Ibomcha said.
The arrested man was reported to have disclosed that he is working under one Laiyekpam Dinesh alias Aningba alias Sakhi s/o Inaochou of Tekcham Khunou in Thoubal district.

He is involved in transportation of arms, ammunition and explosives, the DSP said.
He further said that N Chaoba had planted the bomb that went off around 5.20pm of Nov 12 near Imphal College that claimed the life of a labourer and injured his brother.
According to the revelation of the arrested man, another bomb attack on security forces along Tedim Road has been planned using the recovered materials in couple of days, Dr Ibomcha conveyed.
One mobile phone handset and a driving licence were also recovered from him.
Responding to a query, the DSP said it was not yet clear whether the recovery of the bomb has any connection with Rahul Gandhi's visit as preliminary investigation is on.
