Imphal, October 08 2015:
After a man undergoing treatment at JNIMS was confirmed to have been infected by Dengue last Saturday, another blood sample tested at RIMS Central Surveillance Laboratory tested positive for Dengue today thereby taking the total number of confirmed Dengue cases at the border town of Moreh to two.
Blood samples of 11 people, all belonging to Moreh, were tested today at RIMS and one was found positive for Dengue.
On the other hand, the two suspected Dengue cases reported from Saikul have turned out to be Japanese Encephalitis.
State Malaria Officer Dr Jamkhokam told The Sangai Express that one individual from Sekta undergoing treatment at Raj Medicity was confirmed for Dengue infection after the blood sample was tested at RIMS.
But two other cases from Sekta which were earlier reported to have been confirmed for Dengue have turned out to be Japanese Encephalitis.
Their health conditions are now stable, Dr Jamkhokam said.
The patient whose blood sample tested positive for Dengue today went to Delhi sometime back.
As such, it is suspected that the patient was infected by Dengue virus at Delhi.
Nonetheless, an official team would go for a field survey at the home of the patient and surrounding areas tomorrow to detect presence of Aedes mosquitoes.
If Aedes mosquitoes are detected, different preventive measures including fogging would be launched immediately.
So far, 15 cases including two cases contracted at Delhi have been confirmed for Dengue in the State.
Moreover, 53 blood samples sent today from Churachandpur would be tested at JNIMS and RIMS.
One Dengue case contracted at Delhi has been reported from Wangkhem, Thoubal district.
Likewise, one individual from Bishnupur who went to Delhi to receive an award was found infected by Dengue.
But he has now recovered, Dr Jamkhokam said.
