Imphal, January 08 2020:
The proscribed RPF and the MNPF have claimed that a joint team of the PLA and the MNPA (armed wing of MNPF) jointly attacked a camp of the 4 Assam Rifles early in the morning of January 7 at Khongtal village in Chandel district inflicting heavy damages claiming several lives too.
After the precise and lethal attack, a team of the 252 Mobile Bn of the PLA and MNPA again laid in wait and inflicted heavy losses on the reinforcements sent in from Sajik Tampak side.
Claiming victories in the two attacks, a joint statement issued by the publicity wings of the RPF and MNPF detailed how villagers living from Sajik Tampak to the border area have been surviving under the rule of the security personnel.
With their movements curtailed to a great extent by the security personnel, villagers today find it hard to venture out to farm, collect firewood, hunt, go marketing to other places etc, alleged the joint statement.
Every villager, who want to go out have to append their signature and collect a token from a nearby post of the security personnel, said the joint statement and added that the same thing is repeated when they return to their homes and hearths.
The goods transported by the villagers, such as food stuff, rice are all scrutinised and if the quantity of food being taken is big, they are questioned on why such a consignment is being taken and whether they are meant for the underground cadres.
If the villagers venture to step out to earn their living, they are quizzed on for how many days they would be gone and for whom they are going to work, added the joint statement.
All these questionings are done, for the mental make up of the security personnel is such that the villagers are seen to be extending assistance to the underground cadres, it alleged.
The villagers are continuously subjected to mental torture and they are being brow beaten into quiet submission, alleged the two outfits adding that all are waiting for the day when they can be free from the security personnel.
Along with subjecting the villagers to immense hardship, the youngsters of the villages are being lured with intoxicants, alleged the two outfits and added the liquor is made available to them cheaply.
Once the youngsters become hooked to these intoxicants, it does not take long to make them work as informers, alleged the statement further.
Moreover some of the youngsters are being used to plant poppy and manufacture opium, alleged the outfits and added that the exercise of cutting down poppy plants are just shams to befool the public at large under the slogan 'war on drugs,' coined by the State Government.
Why aren't poppy plants grown near the camps of the security personnel being destroyed or uprooted, asked the two outfits and added that the only way to save the future and the land is to join hands and unitedly fight the common enemy.
