Imphal, November 07 2024:
Rongmei Naga Youths' Organisation, Manipur (RNYOM) and Rongmei Naga Students' Organisation Manipur (RNSOM) have warned of launching an indefinite bandh along National Highway-37 as they accused Arambai Tenggol of assaulting a Kabui civilian at Keikhu Kabui Khul in Imphal East.
In two different statements, organisations viz Naga People's Organisation (NPO), Senapati; Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) and Senapati District Women Organisation (SDWA) and Rongmei Naga Youths' Organisation, Manipur (RNYOM) and Rongmei Naga Students' Organisation Manipur (RN- SOM) claimed that Joshua Kamei, a 23 year old railway driver from Kambiron (Puiluan) Village in Noney was assaulted by a group of people who identified themselves as members of Arambai Tenggol near Keikhu Kabui Khul gate in Imphal East on November 5 .
Condemning the alleged assault, RNSOM and RNYOM, in their joint statement, claimed that the assailants abducted Joshua, subjecting him to torture and interrogation near Keikhu Kabui Khul gate.
This egregious act constitutes a grave human rights violation, imperilling the dignity and safety of Naga people, the two Rongmei organisations said while urging the Government and its agencies to book the culprits within 48 hours (by 12 noon of November 9) .
Saying that they will impose a bandh along National Highway 37 and stop all construction works of National projects at their areas if the demand is not entertained, RNSOM and RNYOM called for cessation of violence.
It also asked Arambai Tenggol to halt all kinds of violent activities.
NPO, SDSA and SDWA, meanwhile, demanded justice for the victim.
In a joint statement, the frontal organisations of Senapati claimed that Nagas in the valley areas are experiencing a complete loss of safety with repeated violations of human rights.
Condemning the assault, they said that they stand in full solidarity in demanding justice for the victim.
