Moirang, September 07 2024:
The body of RK Rabei (80) will not be claimed until Kuki terrorists are driven out of the State, said Meira Paibis at Moirang today.
RK Rabei hailed from Moirang Phiwangbam Leikai.
He was killed when a rocket fired by Kuki militants exploded at the residence of former CM M Koireng at Moirang yesterday at around 3.15 pm.
Today, Meira Paibis blocked an ambulance carrying the body at Moirang Multipurpose Hr Secondary School gate.
The Meira Paibis demanded that the body be taken to RIMS after the Chief Minister comes in person.
When the Chief Minister did not arrive, Moirang AC MLA Thongam Shanti arrived at the spot and pacified the Meira Paibis.
Later, the ambulance was allowed to proceed and take the body to RIMS for postmortem.
Head of the Macha Singgi Mama Apunba Lup (MMAL) Bishnupur district, Konjengbam Padamo Devi said the body was allowed to be taken to RIMS for post mortem and enable legal procedures to be taken up swiftly.
Even when the body has been allowed to be taken to RIMS Hospital for postmortem, the family members and the Meira Paibis will not claim the body until Kuki terrorists are not driven out of Manipur, she said.
She accused Central security forces which have a large presence in the border areas between valley and hills of allowing attacks that killed RK Rabei and other innocent civilians.
In the more than 16 months of the conflict, the Central security forces have failed to rein in Kuki militants.
These forces deployed in Manipur must be removed from the State, she said.
Meanwhile, clubs and Meira Paibis in Moirang have formed a Joint Action Committee against the terror attack that killed RK Rabei.
A public meeting held at Leikoi Pung today formed the JAC, and it decided to register an FIR with the police and submit a report regarding the case to the Governor via the Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur district.
It further decided that the body of RK Rabei will not be claimed until Kuki narco-terrorists are driven out of Manipur and normalcy returns to Manipur.
The meeting also resolved to put pressure on the Government to replace Central security forces deployed in Manipur with State forces.
The meeting decided to launch intense agitation if the JAC's demands are not converted into action within 5 days.
