Pro-ILPS protest rally taken out

Imphal, August 07 2015 : Hundreds of people of Lamshang AC today took out a protest rally on Uripok-Kangchup road demanding implementation of ILPS or a similar Act in the State.

The rally began from Lamshang bazar and proceeded towards Iroisemba.

However, Imphal West district police blocked the rallyist at a bridge located between Taothong and Iroisemba.

Later, police allowed them to proceed further up to Lamboi- khongnangkhong.

The rallyists shouted slogans like 'implement ILPS', 'punish the police personnel responsible for Robinhood's death', 'punish the police personnel who meted out excesses to girl students' .

On the other hand, locals of Lamboikhongnangkhong today staged a sit-in-protest denouncing police action that inflicted a bullet injury on a 16-year-old protester.

Ningombam John s/o Sekhor of the locality was hit by a live bullet on his left hand during a pro-ILPS protest yesterday.

Apart from strongly condemning the police action, the protesters also demanded implementation of ILPS in the State, action against the police personnel responsible for Robinhood's death.

They also demanded action against the police personnel who meted out excesses to girl protesters.
