Imphal, July 07 2022: Police have arrested a woman with four soap cases containing suspected brown sugar weighing 51 grams around 1 pm today.

The arrested woman has been identified as Lhinglalnga Singson, 47, w/o Shokhohen Singson of Tuibong, New Lamka.

The seized contraband was found to weigh 51 grams, without the weight of the soap cases.

The items were reportedly packed with a white cloth and sealed properly.

The packet was seized in the presence of witnesses under a seizure memo.

Following this, the lady was arrested and the seized packet and the arrested woman were brought to Churachandpur Police Station.

A regular case under ND & PS Act has been registered against the accused person for investigation.

In another instance, Thoubal District Police arrested two persons on Tuesday for supplying opium at Moijing in a follow up to the investigation of the recent busting of a brown sugar factory at Moijing Mina Bazar on June 14 .

The two arrested individuals have been identified as Kamneilun Vaiphei alias Khai (52) s/o Lalnek Vaiphei from New Kannan Village and Md Aslam Khan (34) s/o Md Jalaruddin of Sikhong Thongthabi.

The two were arrested from Henjang village, Teng-noupal and from Thoubal.

It may be noted that the latter is a VDF personnel.

Reportedly, massive efforts are still on to arrest other involved members of the drug manufacturing racket such as financiers, drug dealers and transporters.

Routine house searches are being conducted at suspected hideouts in Moijing and other suspected locations to detect drugs and to cause the arrest of involved persons and suspects who are still absconding.
