Imphal, June 07 2015 :
Asserting that the incumbent Congress Government could not hold the ADC election properly in addition to its alleged inability to take governance to the hill areas, BJP Manipur Pradesh has demanded dismissal of the Government and imposition of President's Rule in its place.
Speaking to media persons at their Nityaipat Chuthek office today, BJP Manipur Pradesh president Th Chaoba said that the Congress Government has failed on all fronts.
Apart from its inability to maintain law and order, none of the elections held so far in the State complied with the general rules and norms.
Condemning in the strongest term the recent militant attack at Paraolon village, Chandel district in which 18 personnel of 6 Dogra Regiment were killed and many others wounded, Chaoba remarked that Chief of Army State Gen Dalbir Singh's decision to avoid Chief Minister O Ibobi during his recent visit to the State was very significant.
There are enough evidences of Congress party employing all sorts of unfair and undemocratic tactics to retain power during the ADC election held a few days back.
Initially, repoll was arranged for only 42 polling stations, but the number of polling stations which would go to repoll was raised to over 70 by manipulating documents after summoning DCs and presiding officers of polling stations concerned where BJP has a strong presence.
It was at the instigation of Congress party that miscreants poured ink into ballot boxes in many BJP strongholds on June 1 .
Again during yesterday's repoll, Congress workers voted 100 per cent at Joujangtek polling station with the help of State security forces thereby denying hundreds of voters the right to vote.
No votes were polled at Tungam, Senapati district on account of confrontation between NPF supporters and security forces.
Though the said area has strong support base for BJP, armed cadres of NSCN-IM roamed around freely in Naga areas and threatened voters.
Many key BJP workers were held captive until the polling was over, Chaoba said.
In Kuki dominated areas particularly, Moreh and Churachandpur, Congress used armed elements in their bid to retain power by hook or crook.
Nonetheless, BJP would win more seats than Congress in spite of all their arm twisting tactics, Chaoba declared.
Congress leaders have been claiming that they would retain power in Sadar Hills ADC, Churachandpur ADC and Chandel ADC not because they would get more candidates elected but because they are ready to offer huge amounts of money to elected Members.
Some Congress and NPF candidates got elected unopposed in Chandel and Senapati as BJP candidates and their families were threatened by UG elements and forced to withdraw their candidature, Chaoba said.
General secretary (administration) M Ashnikumar said that many BJP workers were held captive by UG cadres who are presently under SoO pact and thus their voting rights were forfeited.
Media affairs general secretary L Basanta said that KRA cadres prohibited entry of BJP workers in many polling stations of Sadar Hills ADC during the repoll yesterday so that Congress workers could cast massive proxy votes.
