Imphal, September 06 2024:
From Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS), Manipur to Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Manipur and Salaai Kanba Lup (SKL), many organisations have condemned the drone and rocket propelled bomb attacks on civilians by Kuki militants at Moirang today.
While FOCS said that today's attack at Moirang exposes the complete failure of the Home Department to protect lives and properties of the people, AVBP, Manipur observed that the use of drones and rockets to target civilians is not only an act of terrorism but also a blatant violation of human rights and international laws.
ABVP, Manipur, in a press release, said that the use of drone technology and rocket attacks by Kuki militants to target non combatants represents a disturbing escalation in violence and a complete disregard for human life.
Condemning the 'reprehensible' drone and rocket attacks at Moirang today which led to the killing of one civilian and injuring many others, ABVP maintained that such acts of terror were intended to sow fear and chaos among the people.
AVBP said that they, nonetheless, remain resolute in their commitment to peace, security and justice.
The people of Moirang, who have suffered immensely due to the conflict, deserve peace and security, not violence and terror, the student organisation continued and appealed to both the Central and the State Government to take immediate and decisive action to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.
FOCS, on the other hand, asked why the Government of India is still silent when the Chin-Kuki terrorists have even used a short range ballistic missile to attack Meetei residential areas.
The Federation continued that one civilian was killed in the attack by Chin-Kuki terrorists today as the short range ballistic missile landed at the residence of former Chief Minister Late Mairembam Koireng alias Moirang Koireng at Sendra Road under Moirang police station today at around 2.30 pm.
Condemning the killing of a civilian, FOCS asserted that there is a serious lapse in the State's Home Department.
Today's attack exposes the complete failure of the Home Department to deal with the crisis, FOCS said, demanding immediate resignation of 'puppet' Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh and DGP Rajiv Singh on moral ground.
FOCS went on to state that firing a short range ballistic missile in crowded areas just a few days after bombing Kadangband and Koutruk using highly sophisticated drones is a war crime and a big threat to India's internal security.
Asking why the Central Government is still not taking any action against Chin Kuki terrorists, FOCS said that the Government should not take the situation in Manipur lightly.
Declare the development in Manipur as Indo-Kuki War and drive out all the Chin Kuki illegal immigrants, FOCS urged .
Salaai Kanba Lup (SKL) said that the nerve of the Kuki Zo terrorists to bombard residential areas at Moirang show the helplessness of the Central and the State Government.
SKAL demanded that Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh should either resign or the Government must relieve him from the post he occupies while all the MLAs except those representing the Kukis should make their stand clear on the developing scenario.
The Lup also demanded abolishment of the designated camps of 'Kuki-Zo terrorists' and removal of Assam Rifles from the entire State.
