Imphal, July 05 2013 :
Parents and guardians of cadres belonging to United People's Party of Kangleipak (UPPK) have demanded that the Government accelerate the dialogue process.
UPPK had signed an agreement with both the State and Central Government after deciding to join the mainstream.
A meeting of UPPK cadres' parents and guardians held today at Yaiskul Police Lane Manipur Dramatic Union hall resolved to urge the Government for expediting the dialogue process and honour agreements reached between the erstwhile insurgent group and the Governments.
A body called UPPK Guardians' Association was also formed at the meeting that appointed Ng Labango as the president and L Ibohanbi as the secretary.
Huidrom Munal, L Gourahari, S Ratankumar, Ksh Mohendra, Y Tombi Devi, L Bina Devi, Rupa Devi and E Sanahanbi will the members.
Rupa Devi is said to be from Hojai in Assam.
Speaking at the occasion, the parents/guardians expressed serious concern on alleged lack of initiative by both the Central and State Government to set the dialogue process into motion.
Reminding that UPPK cadres opted to follow the path of peace consequent to the State Government repeatedly urging insurgents to give up the armed campaign they cautioned that any further delay might discourage other UG groups from joining the peace process.
