Imphal, June 05 2011:
Different women organisations have decided to launch various forms of agitation if the Government fails to book culprits involved in the murder of Thiyam Roberoi
by June 10 .
Addressing a press meet jointly organised by the All Manipur Positive women Network Imphal East, Christian Network of Positive Women Manipur and Self Support Group at Minuthong today, president of the Self Support Group L Pramo demanded that culprits involved in the murder of Roberoi should be booked and punished according to law by June 10 failing which different forms of protest demonstration would be launched.
Roberoi was found hanging by a rope in the Maibi enclosure of Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou local deity after he was reportedly murdered most brutally.
Even as Bishnupur Police have pulled up five suspects, no one has been penalised according to law till date.
Noting that the JAC constituted against the murder has been undertaking different forms of protest agitation, Self Support Group vice-president Keisham Devala said that Roberoi's mother collapsed when a police officer brandished his gun and threatened the bereaved mother in the course of a protest agitation yesterday.
She is currently undergoing treatment at JN Hospital.
Devala also condemned the act of threatening the bereaved mother.
General secretary of the Christian Network of Positive Women Manipur, Phinschomy Hungyo decried the indifference of the Government towards the three women who sustained injuries in the bomb blast at Khuman Lampak ADC office.
Drawing immediate attention of the Government, she appealed to the authorities concerned to investigate and identify the perpetrators of the bomb attack.
