Senapati, November 04 2015:
Staging a mass rally against the imposition of Meitie Mayek on tribal students and non-inclusion of Additional English as an optional subject, the Senapati Private schools under the aegis of Hill District Recognized Private Schools Association also protested today at DHQs.
The rally participated by more than 5000 students also submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner Jacintha Lazarus which will be handed over to the Chief Minister of Manipur for positive actions.
Before the mass rally, BK Thomas, President, All Private Schools' Association Senapati stated that, "Freedom of education not imposition" .
He added that for those students who cannot read and write their own dialect, there should be an optional subject.
He further said, "We should have our identity and democratic form of education".
The same memorandum was submitted in all the hill districts, Senapati, Ukhrul, Tamenglong, Chandel, Churachandpur including Sadar Hills.
The Hill District Private School Association, Manipur (HDPSAM) had submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Manipur seeking not to delete Additional English from the syllabus.
The memorandum was submitted to the Chief Minister through the Deputy Commissioner of Senapati today.
