Imphal, September 04 2024:
The Manipur Naga Youth Organisation, Headquarters has warned Kuki militants against harming LT Memory, wife of Late LT Rengchupchung, Khullakpa of Kharam Thadoi Aimol village, under Kangchup Geljang sub-division, Kangpokpi district.
Memory was once abducted in June but was released with the intervention of Naga organisations and individuals.
However, a few days ago on September 1, about 40 to 45 armed Kuki militants entered her village again and searched for her.
Fortunately, she escaped and was rescued by her friends, said MNYO in a statement.
In the event of any untoward incident befalling upon her life and her immediate family members, both armed Kuki militants and her immediate rival T Lunkhokam Kom/Khongsai will be held responsible, said the MNYO.
The Kharam Thadoi is a minority Naga village of Aimol tribe and it has been caught in the middle of the Meitei-Kuki conflict, it said.
While people are living in constant fear, armed Kuki militants have attempted to interfere in the internal issue of the Kharam Thadoi, Naga village.
There must be no further interference in the village's affairs by the armed Kuki militants, said MNYO.
The MNYO further asserted that the armed Kuki militants in combat fatigues entered and stayed in the village longer than expected on September 1 .
Such incidents may send a wrong signal to the Meiteis and portray the village as a party to the conflict, it said, advising the armed Kuki militants to stay away from the village and refrain from using it as launchpads for their attacks.
The MNYO also condemned the use of drones against the innocent public in Koutruk and Kadangband area.
The MNYO also condemned the assault on Golmei Pouthoi of Namthanlong Kabui Rongmei village by armed miscreants.
Golmei Pouthoi is a school van driver.
He was assaulted by armed miscreants September 2 near ICAR gate, Lamphel, it said.
The MNYO urged authorities concerned to act in the case and ensure the safety of the people.
