Imphal, September 04 2017:
United Committee Manipur (UCM) will respond fittingly to any forces which spew venom and any policy of the Govt of India to incite and promote hatred among the people of Manipur, asserted Elangbam Johnson, president of UCM .
E Johnson was speaking at the 7th Chingtam Traditional Cultural festival organised by All Manipur Huiyen Lalong and Traditional Culture Preservation Committee today at Rupmahal Theatre .
Johnson said that the sudden visit of interlocutor for Kuki talks Dineshwar Sharma for ground assessment of the political aspirations of the Kukis was a great misadventure on the part of the Home Ministry, Govt of India .
Amidst the apprehension about the Framework Agreement signed on August 3, 2015, the Govt of India is trying to magnify the extent of the misgiving harboured by the people.
The visit of the interlocutor was aimed at promoting mistrust among the people and disturb the peaceful coexistence of the people, Johnson said .
Hatred and mistrust among the people of the State may arise as a result of the Govt of India's continuous attempts to disintegrate or fragment Manipur.
The Govt of India should be held responsible for it, Johnson said .
The step taken by the Govt of India to assess how far the political aspiration of the Kukis and the demand of State within State by SoO groups could be fulfilled can be construed as indirect support to the demand.
The UCM strongly condemns it, Elangbam Johnson said .
The Manipur Govt should make a clarification in this regard through the Union Home Ministry.
If not, it may be understood as inciting bloodshed among the people of the State, Johnson said .
The UCM, along with the people of the State, will face any forces which spew venom, policy to promote hatred among the people and any scheme to disintegrate Manipur by Govt of India, he asserted .
The programme was attended amongst others by titular king Leishemba Sanajaoba and AMHLATCPC president Thiyam Menjor Meitei.
