No technical flaws : SE

PWD (Urban Circle) Superintending Engineer (SE) has clarified that there has been no technical flaw in the Sewerage Project which is being targeted for completion within December 2012 .
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, SE Thokchom Lokeshore said that maximum efforts are being put in technically and physically to complete the Sewerage Project, the first of its kind in the entire North East region, successfully.
He claimed that proper levelling was done for laying primary and secondary pipe lines which are the most crucial components of the Sewerage Project.
Total station equipment are being used to ascertain the depth levels of pits.
Contractors are also being detailed instructions while executing the work, Lokeshore said.
Moreover, the project is being executed under supervision of French technical team.
A technical team from France inspected the ongoing work from March 6 to 9 this year.
Technical equipment for the Sewerage Project being taken up for treatment of wastes and effluents including faeces of Imphal city are being provided by France based private company Aqua Technique besides providing technical support.
The SE went on to claim that the project which started in 2006 would be certainly completed within 2012 .
Informing that the project would last till 2031, Lokeshore said that the Government has plans to take up similar sewerage projects in Moirang, Churachandpur and Bishnupur towns.
Till date laying of primary line, that is laying of main pipes on main roads, has been completed to 85 per cent whereas secondary line, that is laying of pipes on small lanes and roads has been completed by 60 per cent.
Although there are certain difficulties in executing the project expeditiously due to onset of the rainy season, there is no paucity of fund, the SE added.
