Headmaster and teaching staff of Salambung High School distributed 5 kgs of rice, potato and a bar of soap each to class VI to VII students of the school.
The teachers also conducted an awareness programme and educated the students on COVID-19 .
Relief items distributed
All Manipur Road Transport Drivers' & Motor Workers' Union distributed edibles including rice, dal, potatoes and oil to the several pensioners of the union.
Social worker provides essential goods
Social worker Toijam Lokendro (Abungcha), S/o Toijam Achouba Singh of Kongpal Ningthoubung Leikai in association with Unity Club provided essential goods of rice, pulses, edible oil and salt to about 300 households of Kongpal Kongkham Leikai Ward No 8 of Khurai A/C .
AR distributes essential items to underprivileged families
Church Hill Battalion of Churachandpur Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) joined hands with the Samaritan Group, Churachandpur and Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Imphal to extend assistance to over 800 families of Thinghat Sub Division today.
Under the initiative, essential rations and vegetables at heavily discounted prices way below the current market rates were made available to approximately 60 families of the remote area who were facing acute hardships due to non-availability of essential items including daily rations.
Troops of Assam Rifles have been at the forefront in alleviating the difficulties being faced by the residents of the remote areas during the ongoing crisis, said a press release issued by IGAR (S).
Meanwhile, the Keithelmanbi Battalion of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) provided essential food items to a minor on May 1 .
The battalion was approached by the members of Kongba Bazar Development Committee for providing relief and assistance to 8 years old boy whose mother is presently in Judicial Custody and father passed away, said a statement of IGAR (S) .
Saying that the battalion promptly provided approximately 15 days food items to the committee member who finally delivered it to the boy, it added that Assam Rifles are continuously assisting the local population to mitigate the hardships of COVID-19 crisis.
Tamenglong and Noney Battalions of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) too approached ex-Servicemen (ESM) and Veer Naris of Tousem Sub division of Tamenglong District and Kangchup of Kangpokpi on May 2, added the statement.
Basic essential ration items, masks and gloves were distributed to ESM, Veer Naris and their family members said IGAR (S) .
They were also educated about the importance and usage of the ArogyaSetu application launched by the Government of India.
Veterans expressed their gratitude to the organisation for once again making them feel like part of Assam Rifles family.
Mantripukhri Battalion reaches out to Asha Bhavan
Mantripukhri Battalion of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) provided essential food items, masks and surgical gloves to 'Asha Bhavan,' Drug Rehabilitation Centre in Imphal yesterday (May 3) .
The items were handed out to the centre by the civic action team of the battalion with an aim to reach out to the needy and to mitigate the hardship amidst the prevailing situation.
The battalion while appreciating the efforts put in by the Organization in providing holistic care and support to rehabilitate and curb the drug menace in the state, assured every possible help.
All units of AR are maintaining contact with civil administration so as to provide assistance to local population, whenever required, said a press release issued by IGAR (S) .
