Video film-makers celebrate

Imphal, June 02 2011: All Manipur Video Film-makers and Producers' Association celebrated its 21st foundation anniversary at the Manipur Film Development Corporation auditorium today.

The celebration was graced by the presence of Art and Culture Director Dr K Sobita Devi, Association president Chan Heisnam and Film Forum Manipur chairman L surjakanta Sharma as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

In her brief comment at the occasion, Dr Sobita highlighted that there is need for development of cinema halls in the State in order to boost film makers as well as draw movie enthusiasts.

She also stated that good scripts are most essential for the success of films.

L surjakanta, who also addressed the gathering stressed on the need for constant rapport between film distributors and producers to ensure a stable the film market in Manipur.

He further appealed to the producers to retain copy rights of the film for atleast three year after its release.

On the otherhand, Chan Heisnam rued that unlike other regional language films Manipuri digital feature films do not get selected for national awards and urged the directors to discuss for a meaning solution on the issue.
