AMUCO condemns

The All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has strongly condemned the killing of two civilians by security forces in at Ukhrul on August 30 .
Some time back, ADC Member Ngalangzar was shot dead at Finch corner, Ukhrul district by some alleged NSCN (IM) cadres whilst he was on his way to see his sick mother at his home in Ukhrul, stated a press release issued by AMUCO publicity secretary S Jamskumar.
Subsequent upon the assassination, additional forces of police commando and IRB were delpoyed in some parts of UKhrul followed by imposition of CrPC 144 .
The people of Ukhrul condemned deployment of additional forces and imposition of CrPC 144 and they vehemently protested through several public agitation.
The recent rally at Ukhrul was taken out by a large number of people under the aegis of UNC which later turned out violent, resulting in the death of two protestors and injury to eight others.
Stongly condemning the incident, AMUCO maintained that such incidents are not new to the common people of Manipur.
It also conveyed solidarity to the bereaved families.
AMUCO also appealed to the State Government to take up necessary measures in order to avoid unwanted violence while tackling any mass agitation in the future.
The Government must settle the volatile situation of Ukhrul as soon as possible, it concluded.
