Drugs seized, locals intercept cough syrups

Narcotics Cell of Imphal West District Police arrested a person along with 8000 strips of SP Capsules and 1000 strips of N-10 tablets from Tera Keithel.
On the other hand, locals of Yairipok Yambem seized a glycerine barrel of 300 litres capacity filled with cough syrups and three cartons of SP capsules, which were later burnt.
According to police report, the person from whom drugs were seized from Tera Keithel was known as Md Abdul Razak (27) son of Md Allauddin of Lilong Usoipokpi.
He was produced in the CJM Court, Imphal East yesterday and remanded into police custody for six days.
On the other hand, locals of Yairipok Yambem and Yairipok Ningthoumanai intercepted a Mini Truck carrying a barrel filled with cough syrup and three cartons of SP Capsules at Yambem area and burnt them.
Md Apikcha (30) son of Md Rashid Ali from Yairipok Changamdabi, who was driving the vehicle, is absconding.
In the meantime, GRPS, Dimapur arrested a Manipuri along with 10,080 pieces of SP capsules from Dimapur Railway on March 29.The arrested Manipuri has been identified as Atomba (24) of Kshetrigao Awang Leikai under Imphal East district.
He reportedly brought the drugs from Uttar Pradesh in a train, Bramhaputra Mail.
