Imphal, March 01 2024:
Asserting that neither Arambai Tenggol nor police commandos should lay down arms, All Manipur Women's Social Reformation and Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj) has maintained that the two should co-exist in harmony and protect the integrity of Manipur.
Addressing the media at Nupi Samaj Office at Lamphel, Th Ramani, president, Nupi Samaj stated that mothers of Manipur are sternly against the arms down protest launched by AT and police commandos.
She added that the Government should act swiftly to address the differences between the two groups and save Manipur.
Stating that the press conference was jointly organised by Nupi Samaj, Tammi-Chingmi and EECHAL, Th Indu, advisor, Nupi Samaj stated that the gun attack and damage to property at the residence of Addl SP Amit, his abduction and physical assault are wrongful acts while adding that mothers/womenfolk are against such acts.
At such a grave chapter in the State's history, if the two groups lay down their arms, they will be seen as cowards with no love for the motherland, she added.
Notably, she also made a widespread appeal to all concerned to refrain from perpetrating acts such as planting bombs, gun attacks and abductions.
Th Indu further urged the State Government to mediate and reconcile the two groups.
In addition, Yambem Momon, president, Tammi-Chingmi attributed the dispute between AT and police commandos to a struggle for power/authority.
He urged both sides to withdraw their stance and focus on protecting the State.
In the face of Kuki atrocities and attacks, the two forces should put aside their differences to safeguard Manipur.
The Chief Minister should also try to reconcile the two groups, he maintained.
