Electoral roll stands at 19,15,243: Joint CEO

With the prior approval of the Election Commission, the final electoral rolls was published on January 1 this year and the total voters in Manipur as per the final electoral roll stood at 19,15,243, said K Bono Singh, Joint Chief Electoral Officer (Joint CEO) during the series of press conference organised by DIPR at Moirangkhom today.
He said that out the said 19,15,243 voters, 9,32,7,91 are male electors while 9,82,452 are females while the number of newly registered electors is 21,500.Special drive for unregistered electors giving focus on registration of young electors between the age group of 18-21 years, was successfully carried out in the State between July 1 and July 31 last year.
During the special drive 9,582 were registered as new electors.
Special drive through house to house visit by the Booth Level Officers was carried out between October 4 and December 15, 2017.During the drive, 26,572 electors were newly registered.
ERO-Net is a web based system which also provides quality services with regard to status of the application submitted by the citizens/users.
It is a complete network of all officials at the election machinery, from the Election Commission of India to Chief Electoral Officer, District Election Officers and Electoral Registration Officers, all over the country for close monitoring of the enrolment process as per the schedule announced by the EC I, he explained and added that as of now, 39 EROs of the State are connected through ERO Net software for processing all the forms at National Level Database UNPER (Unified National Photo Electoral Roll Data) formore transparencies.
The Commission also launched BLP Net Mobile App during the Special Sumrriary Revision, 2018 and it was taken up in five Assembly Constituencies as a pilot project.
The ACs were Khundrakpam, Heingang, Thangmeiband, Uripok and Kakching.
The main objectives of the programme includes maximizing registration, improving fidelity of ER, identifying future voters to focus voter education under SVEEP, obtaining information on polling stations and obtaining family details, contact details and GIS coordination to provide better financial services, the Joint CEO added.
The Election Department conducted special summary revision of photo electoral roll with January 1, 2018 as the qualifying date.
The draft publication of electoral roll was October 4 last year and final publication of the electoral rolls was on January 12 this year.
The Joint CEO stated that the Department prepares electoral rolls of the 60 Assembly segments, prepares and issue Electors Photo Identity Cards, conducts election to the house of the people and State Legislative Assemblies as well as the Presidential and Vice-Presidential elections.
Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (WPAT) was introduced in the Assembly Constituencies of Khurai, Uripok, Singjamei, Yaiskul, Nambol and Thoubal, covering 239 polling stations during the last 11th Manipur State Legislative Assembly Election.
As instructed by the Election Commission of India (ECI) for streamlining electoral literacy in educational institutions and Government Departments, Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELCs), Voter Awareness Forums (VAF) and Chunav Pathshala have been constituted.
Under National Grievances Service, a call centre with dedicated telephone line of a toll free number - 1950 was opened in CEO's office and 11 National Grievances Cells were opened in the districts to receive complaints from the public regarding electoral roll revision and election related matters.
The 8th National Voters' Day was celebrated on January 25 across the country at State, District, Sub-Divisional and Polling station/Booth level with full galore and enthusiasm under the theme "Accessible Election".
