World TB Day observed

As observed across the globe, the World TB Day was also observed by the District Health Mission-Revised National Tuberculosis Control Program (RNTCP) and Project Axshya, Thoubal at National Health Mission, Thoubal office yesterday.
The programme was graced by Th Shyamo Singh, Chairperson, Thoubal Municipal Council, Dr N Jayantakumar Singh, CMO, Thoubal cum District Mission Director of District Health Society, Thoubal, Dr Arke, Medical Superintendent, Thoubal district hospital, O Haridas, social worker and Th Ngouba, president, TB Forum, Thoubal as presidium members.
Organised under the theme "Unite to end TB", Dr Ksh Memcha, District Nodal Officer of RNTCP said that World TB Day was on March 24.However, due to Yaoshang celebration in the State, the observance programme was held on March 30 .
"We should understand the root causes of TB in order to treat the disease.
Tuberculosis disease is curable by proper and timely medication administration.
Therefore, analysing and understanding the factors of TB infection and disease are important in order to ensure proper treatment of the disease," Dr Ksh Memcha said.
Oinam Haridas stressed on the important role of the ASHAs in creating awareness information of health and its related issues in every nook and corner of the State.
In order to facilitate their services effectively, fund allotted by the Central Government should be efficiently disbursed by the State Government.
Prevention and eradication of diseases including TB could be achieved when there is availability of resources to reach the masses.
As part of the programme, three DOT providers of Thoubal, Kakching and Lilong Blocks were felicitated for discharging their duties efficiently.
