As the State went to poll in 38 Assembly Constituencies in Phase-I today, a number of poll related violent incidents were reported at various parts of the State.
6-Keirao AC
A Gypsy belong to the escort of NPP candidate in Keirao AC Md Nasirudin was turned upside down by an enraged mob after a scuffle broke out between the locals and the escort party when the candidate along with his escort party were visiting Polling Station number 6/32 at Phunal Maring Primary school at around 9 am.
Locals stated that there was some argument between the locals and the said escort party after which the escort party fired some rounds in the air and slapped one of the locals.
The enraged locals had turned the escort vehicle upside down in a fit of rage.

A team of Irilbung police rushed to the incident site and brought the situation under control.
An FIR was also registered in connection with the incident.
SP Imphal East M Pradip also visited the incident site and took stock of the situation.
There is report of another minor scuffle among the supporters of different candidates of Keirao AC today morning at polling station number 6/9 Urup Awang Leikai Primary Madrassa, 6/20 Urup Khunou Khongbra Phibantaba Lower Primary Madrasa and 6/21 Keirao Lower Primary Madrasa but the timely action by security personnel deployed in the area brought the situation under control.
DC Imphal East Khumanthem Diana, IPS Themthing Ngasangva IGP (Zone-I) and IPS K Kabib DIG Range I and II also visited the polling station and took stock of the situation.
15-Wangkhei AC
Tension erupted at 15/ 13 polling station at RK Sanatombi Vidyalaya Primary School in Wangkhei AC today afternoon at around 1.30 pm allegedly for casting proxy votes.
Those who were present in the polling station stated that supporters of JDU candidate Wangkhei Assembly Constituency stormed the 15/13 polling station alleging that the Booth Level Officer and other agents sitting inside the polling station allowed proxy voting in the favor of the BJP candidate.
Soon after that JD(U) candidate Arunkumar Thangjam and BJP candidate Okram Henry visited the polling station while the agent of Thangjam Arunkumar filed an application before the presiding officer of the polling station for re-poll.
However casting of the vote in the said polling station continued.
20-Langthabal AC
Scuffle broke out between NPP and BJP supporters at 20/30 polling station opened at Karam Makha Leikai after NPP alleged that proxy votings were being allowed inside the polling station in favor of the BJP candidate.
Some vehicles belonging to NPP supporters were damaged in the incident that followed.
Another incident took place after allegations were made that the BJP election camp opened at 20/18 polling station was destroyed.
3-Khurai AC
NPP and BJP supporters engaged in allegations and counter-allegations that BJP supporters were trying to manipulate the vote for senior citizens while BJP supporters claimed that NPP workers were trying to disrupt the voting process with baseless allegations.
Some vehicles were damaged in the incident.
Some minor incidents were also reported in 11-Sagolband AC and 13-Singjamei AC .
