NPF to fight polls in 14 ACs

Naga People's Front (NPF) would put up its candidates in 14 Assembly segments including two in Sadar Hills area in the ensuing 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election which is scheduled on January 28, 2012 .
Speaking to The Sangai Express, NPF political affairs secretary Angam Ruivah informed that the front has decided to put up candidates in 14 Assembly segments including two in Sadar Hills area.
Mentioning that the decision was taken in a party's meeting held at Senapati on December 30, the secretary asserted that the Assembly segments in which NPF would put up its candidates are Karong, Mao, Tadubi, Chingai, Ukhrul, Phungyar, Tamei, Tamenglong, Nungba, Chandel, Tengnoupal, Henglep and, Saikul and Kangpokpi of Sadar Hills.
Ruivah further mentioned that 55 individuals have applied for the party's nomination for the ensuing elections from the said segments and they were acquainted with the party members in the Senapati meeting of December 30 .
Saying that not all 55 individuals would get party tickets, he asserted that the meeting also resolved to extend support to candidates who got party tickets by those who don't get party tickets.
The individuals who are seeking party tickets included prominent political figures such as former Minister BD Behring of Chandel, former Minister Samuel Zendai of Tamenglong, sitting MLA K Raina of Tadubi and Dr Khasim Ruivah of Chingai, he added.
