Army inaugurates Yarn Bank in Bishnupur

The Indian Army, in collaboration with Aseem Foundation, a Pune based NGO working in the field of education entrepreneurship & development, established a Yarn Bank at Tronglaobi village in Bishnupur district.
In a release, PRO Defence informed that the project initiated under Operation Sadbhavana has been handed over to the villagers on Wednesday.
The Yarn Bank will foster skill development and self-empowerment for the local women, providing them with valuable resources to enhance their livelihoods.
The facility is equipped with seven traditional looms and an assortment of yarn materials, including cotton, polyester, acrylic and silk, along with display stands, boards, screens and essential furniture.
It offers all women from the region, including 'Veer Naris' and war widows access skill-building opportunities and income-generating activities.
The project was inaugurated by Red Shield Division GOC in the presence of representatives of Aseem Foundation, Army officers, village chiefs and ex-servicemen.
The Yarn Bank exemplifies Indian Army's dedication to creating sustainable employment and supporting women's empowerment in the region, said the PRO.
