NPO set to impose restrictions on drivers

Senapati, November 28 2024: The Naga Peoples' Organisation (NPO) has decided to enforce driving restrictions on Naga, Meitei Pangal, Nepali drivers and non-local drivers starting December 2, 2024 .

This decision followed as per complaints received from the Driver's Union regarding continuous harassment along the National Highway (Imphal-Dimapur highway) .

A press release issued by the convenor, Grievances Cell of the NPO stated that despite previous engagements with community organizations as well as an MoU signed with the State Government, issues such as harassment, extortion, and illegal taxation still remain unchecked prompting the NPO to take such action.
