Imphal, September 20 2021: Thounaojam Brinda, who is known for her outspoken and daring act against drug trade, has declared her decision to fight the forthcoming 2022 state assembly election from Yaiskul assembly constituency.

Brinda announced her decision through her social media account and the report went viral on social media on Monday with many of her supporters sharing the post.

However, she did not mention in which party she would be contesting the election.

In 2018, chief minister N Biren awarded her police medal for gallantry for busting a drug ring resulting in the arrest of some high-profile individuals.

However, the main accused was acquitted by the court recently, following which she returned her gallantry award.

She also alleged some powerful people in the government of interfering in the course of investigating the case and attempting to acquit the accused in her affidavit.
