Imphal, July 20 2022: A 25 year old youth was shot dead while he was trying to break up a fight in Walkhurin village in Chandel district in the wee hours of today.

The deceased has been identified as SR Kolungtha (25), s/o SR Rajesh of the same village.

The incident reportedly happened at around 1.40 am today wherein three people of his locality had started fighting in the.

courtyard of the deceased's home.

SR Kolungtha was shot in the neck by one of the persons involved in the fight with a single barrel rifle while he was trying to break the fight.

SR Kolun : fha succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

All the three people involved in the fight are on the run and a manhunt has been launched to nab them.

A case has also been registered at Chakpikarong police station.

The body of the deceased has been handed over to the family after post-mortem to-day at TNIMS mortuary.
