Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) units and other equipment for both the Oxygen Plants set up by the state government at Thoubal and Churachandpur districts have been placed at the installation sites late Wednesday night.
The PSA units and other equipment airlifted by Indian Air Force aircraft IL 76 landed at Imphal airport around 5:20 pm Wednesday and swiftly transported to the two districts on the same evening.
With regard to Churachandpur district, offloading of the cargo continued till Thursday morning near the oxygen plant site in the presence of TA, Transport & GAD Minister Vungzagin Valte, who was sent by Chief Minister N Biren Singh to oversee the delivery and offloading of the equipment.
Vungzagin informed that as there is no power backup (generator) for the oxygen plant the same was intimated to the CM and the latter promptly assured of doing the needful so that the plant could become operational soon.
Vungzagin further said that this is the first initiative of the state government and more such plants with a filling capacity of 200 cylinders per day will be set up in other districts.
The oxygen plant in Churachandpur can fill 40 cylinders per day while the one in Thoubal has the capability of filling 20 cylinders per day, Minister Vungzagin added.
