Drug stores in JNIMS area inspected

Imphal, April 20 2022:
Joint inspections were carried out by the Directorate of Health Services drug inspector and members of Manipur State Pharmacy Council at various pharmaceutical stores operating in Imphal East area namely JNIMS Hospital, Ayangpalli, Pong Lambi and Lamlong.
As per a release issued by state drugs controller N Rimotkumar Meetei, during the inspection, many defects and discrepancies such as sale of expired medicines, wholesalers practicing retail sales, poor storage conditions, combination with grocery items in certain pharmacies, invalid license, etc., were found leading to violation of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and Rules 1945 as well as affecting the healthcare delivery system.
Those who were found violating the rules were given last warning and instructed to rectify their mistakes immediately or face penal provisions under the Act, the release informed.
Furthermore, all stakeholders operating at different parts of the state have been advised for strict compliance with the rules of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
