NH-37 shutdown plan called off

Noney, December 19 2021:
The proposed indefinite total shutdown along NH-37 (Imphal-Jiribam Road) and ban on all national projects of the 'JAC against accidental death of late Amos Bariampan and late Agaiba Balang' has been called off after a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was arrived at among the JAC, Manipur Drivers' Association (MDA) and Noney Police in the presence of Noney SP Ningshem Vashum on Sunday.
According to the MoU, the parties involved will make arrangement for providing suitable job equivalent to the post of VDF to next of kin of the deceased VDF personnel and apprise Noney deputy commissioner for providing ex-gratia to both the victim families on humanitarian ground.
As per the pact, Manipur Drivers' Association shall pay Rs 3 lakh each to the victims' families for performing thelast rites while the truck owner shall pay Rs 2 lakh each to the families within January 15, 2022.The damaged Pulsar also should be replaced or repaired by the truck owner and MDA and the truck which is in the custody of Noney Police should only be released after fulfilling the agreed points pertaining to the truck owner and MDA in consultation with JAC, the MoU mentioned.
