Farmers' training prog conducted

Under the aegis of All India Co-ordinated Research Project on Nematodes in Agriculture; Central Agricultural University's College of Agriculture organised a training programme for farmers at Bishnupur Kha Loukol Makha Leikai community hall on Saturday.
Neem cakes were also distributed to 70 farmers of Bishnupur.
Speaking at the training programme, CAU All India Co-ordinated Research Project on Nematodes in Agriculture, Imphal scientist Dr Ksh Sumita explained that Nematodes are minute species invisible to the naked eyes.
There are two types of nematodes namely beneficial nematodes and plant parasitic nematodes.
Plant parasitic nematodes feed on plants.
There are nematodes which live in plants and also there are others that reside in roots of plants, she added.
Sumita further said that neem cake and mustard oil cake have been produced to enhance economy of the farmers.
An interaction session between the participating farmers and the subject experts was also held as part of the training programme.
