Imphal, July 18 2022:
The Loktak Development Authority (LDA) has directed all the concerned to remove/dis-mantle all athaphum, hut or houses on phumdi (homestay) excluding Champu Khangpok within the next fifteen days.
L Bhagaton Singh, Project Director, LDA said this in a notification issued today and added that the notification for removal of athaphum, hut or houses on phumdi was being issued under the Manipur Loktak Lake (Protection) Act 2006 to save Loktak lake.
The exponential rise of athaphum, hut or houses on phumdi (homestay) are posing serious environmental risk and also have become a serious social issue as they are being operated without proper regulations, he added.
LDA will take up necessary action for removal of such unauthorized activities in case any of the concerned fail to comply with the notice.
