Students of SK Women's College, Nambol have drawn attention of the state government for repairing the Manipur Rajbari in Shillong, where king Bodhchandra signed the merger agreement with Government of India on September 21, 1949 .
A team of the college students went to the site during their extension tour programme last month.
Interacting with the media after returning to the college, some of the students informed that they saddened on seeing the pathetic condition of the Rajbari, which is a historical monument.
Moreover, they did not have any means to know the exact room where the then king signed the merger agreement.
Stating that they heard of reports regarding some issues preventing the state government from renovating the structure, the students appealed to the state government to sort out all issues so as to renovate and protect the historic Rajbari at the earliest.
They also appealed to the government to construct a guest house in the nearby area for the visitors from Manipur.
