Consumer court awards ₹2 lakh compensation

Imphal, August 11 2022: District Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission (District Commission), Imphal has awarded Rs 2 lakh compensation to a complainant during hearing of a case.

The complainant, Dusuvei Lanamai of Kanglatongbi had filed a complaint against the Air India Limited and Airports Authority of India chief vigilance officer as opposite party to the Commission.

After hearing the case, the Commission ordered the opposite party to give compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the complainant for causing him mental and physical harassment, along with paying Rs 20,000 as litigation cost.

The Commission also di rected that if the opposite party could not pay the compensation within one month of the order, an annual interest of 11 per cent will be charged till the compensation is paid.
