Malfunctioning weighing machine inconveniencing many

Imphal, August 11 2021:
The prolonged malfunctioning of the weighing machine installed at the warehouse of Food and Civil Supply, Sangaiprou under CAF&PD for over three months is causing serious inconveniences to many people and agents coming to the facility to lift rice.
According to a report, the malfunction is preventing agents from drawing exact quantity of the allocated rice.
The problem is further intensified during distribution of rice to beneficiaries in their respective constituencies, resulting in irregular weight or shortages.
As such, many have to go to the FCI warehouse to properly weigh the goods.
However, as FCI already has its own operations, a significant amount of time is spent on waiting.
On top of this, there is frequent occurrence of traffic congestions in the area due to numerous vehicles coming into the campus for weighing purposes.
Although repeated requests have been made for repairing the machine, no action have been taken up till, thus leaving many of the FCS agents frustrated, the report conveved.
