AR conducts awareness campaign, workshop

Assam Rifles organised a cancer awareness campaign in Sita village and Mission Veng on Thursday as a part of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), aimed at educating remote communities about cancer prevention and early detection.
The campaign attracted over 200 students and emphasised the importance of adopting healthy lifestyle choices to reduce cancer risks.
Participants were educated on recognising cancer symptoms, the significance of regular health check-ups, and preventive measures to minimise the chances of developing cancer, informed a release by PRO IGAR (S), adding that Assam Rifles personnel engaged actively with attendees, shared valuable insights on nutrition, exercise, and the importance of avoiding harmful habits.
This initiative aligns with the government's efforts to enhance health awareness in underserved areas, ensuring that vital information reaches those who need it most, added the PRO.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles conducted a skill workshop on baking for the locals of Shalluk village, Chandel district, on November 6.The primary goal of the initiative was to empower local women by equipping them with new vocational skills, creating income-generating opportunities through baking techniques, said the PRO.
The workshop was participated by around 30 individuals from the village.
