Imphal, June 05 2022: In connection with the 131st Martyrdom of Saheed Subedar Niranjan Singh Chhetri (Saheed Diwas), All Manipur Gorkha Students' Union (AMGSU) in association with RIMS Department of Transfusion Medicine and supported by NHM State Blood Cell organised a Mass Blood Donation Camp at the Blood Bank of RIMS here on Sunday.

AMGSU blood donation coordinator Ashok Baskota informed that Saheed Niranjan Chhetri was hanged by the then British rulers on June 8, 1891 at the Western Gate of Kangla for revolting against the Britishers.

He was one of the closest associates of Yubraj Tikendrajit and was given the responsibility of training the Manipuri Army.

While informing the blood donation camp was organised in remembrance of Niranjan's sacrifice for Manipur, the coordinator said 19 people from Kanglatongbi, Motbung, Kalapa-har, Leimakhong, Irang, Churachandpur and Serou donated blood.
