Bishnupur, December 04 2024:
A sit-in protest was organised by Nachou Apunba Meira Paibi Lup at Nachou Panthong on Wednesday, demanding release of seven persons arrested by police in connection with November 16 mass protest in which the house of works minister Govindas Konthoujam at Ningthoukhong Bazar was burned and vandalised.
Speaking to media persons, Lup secretary Ksh Pyari Devi asserted that both the central and state governments must focus on resolving the ongoing conflict in the state.
On the demand for release of the detainees, she cautioned that in case they are not freed by December 9, the public will launch a mass court arrest agitation.
During the sit-in, the agitators held placards such as 'Release the arrested people', 'Authorities should immediately rescind summons sent to people', 'NIA should not register case against leader', 'Repeal AFSPA from Manipur', 'Stop proxy war of Government of India' and 'No arrest of village Volunteers' .
