Imphal, November 01 2024:
Despite prohibitory orders issued against sale and bursting of firecrackers during the Diwali celebration, some household items were charred in a fire incident after a rocket cracker fell on the house on Friday.
Ahead of the festival, government authorities had issued orders prohibiting the sale of firecrackers.
The house belonged to one Maibam Ibomcha alias Tompok (75) of Changangei Mayai Leikai.
The incident occurred around 6:30 pm, resulting in damage to some clothing and a wardrobe in the room.
Fortunately, swift response by locals prevented the fire from spreading.
Meanwhile, a fire officer at the Imphal Control Room informed that the Manipur Fire Service has alerted quick response teams throughout the state to address any fire emergencies that might arise during Diwali celebrations.
These teams were stationed at Khurai Lamlong Keithel, Khoyathong, Singjamei Chingamakhong, Konung Mamang, and Kwakeithel.
